Teresa started T’Dance in 1985 and lives in Hastings with her husband, Dave, and has three children: Brett Miller, Logan & Ashlyn Miller and grandson Bron, and Emma Miller. Teresa holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Modern Dance from Texas Christian University and an Associate in Arts degree from Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri, where she was also a dance major.
Teresa continues to study dance by regularly attending workshops and conventions: Manhattan Dance Project and Dance Olympus workshops in Omaha, and the Snowy Range Dance Festival at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, and the Dance Teacher Web Seminar in Las Vegas. Teresa has studied with some of the legendary rhythm tappers such as Eddie Brown, Chuck Green and Steve Condos. Most recently she has studied with Tony Waag of the American Tap Dance Foundation. She has also studied Modern with Peter Pucci, of Pucci Plus Dance Company, Yoav Kaddar – Paul Taylor & Limon Dance Company/University of West Virginia, Kaye Richards – Univeristy of Utah, Darrell Thomas – Western Oregon University and Lawrence Jackson – University of Wyoming as well as dancers with the Repertory Dance Theatre of Utah and Ballet with Keith Saunders of the Dance Theatre of Harlem and Susan Israel Massey of the Richmond Ballet. She also visits New York City annually with students to study dance at Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway and Luigi Jazz Dance Center. They also attend Broadway and professional dance company performances.
Teresa has choreographed for several local high school musical productions including West Side Story, Suessical The Musical, Camelot, Guys and Dolls and Oklahoma. She has also been a judge for the Kansas Miss Teen Pageant and many local high school, studio and college dance team auditions.
In 2008 Teresa completed her training and became the first certified practitioner in Yamuna Body Rolling in the state of Nebraska. Teresa attended the Dance Teachers Web Live Seminar in Las Vegas during the summer of 2013-2015.
Her latest activity pursuit is Aerial Yoga, and she completed her first level of certification in 2016 and level two training in 2017! You can now find Teresa hanging and flying in studio 2 with her Aerial Yoga students.
She enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, golfing, yoga, and crafting.
Katie has danced since age 3. She started out in Beatrice, NE and danced at 2 different studios. Katie then started at Dance Moves Dance Studio in Fairbury, NE at age 9 and danced there through her senior year of high school. She has trained in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, and Hip Hop. She also taught Hip Hop, Tap, Jazz, and Ballet at Dance Moves Dance Studio.
She danced on the Fairbury High School drill team for her four years of high school. She has been to four Tremaine Dance Conventions and was the Dancer Of The Year in 2009. In 2008, Katie was the second runner up for the Miss Jefferson County pageant and in that pageant won the talent competition with a Broadway/Jazz dance. Throughout high school she also frequently danced for fundraisers in her community.
Katie attended the Mary Lanning School of Radiologic Technology and graduated in July of 2013 and currently works for Mary Lanning Hospital. Prior to that she schooled at Hastings College and majored in Biopsychology. While at Hastings College, she was a member of the Hastings College Crimson Spirit Dance Team.
Lyndie has been a life long dancer at T'Dance and has been a 4 year member of the Hastings High Tigerettes Dance team. Lyndie is a co-captain of the Tigerettes this year. Lyndie has been an assistant at T'Dance and is excited to be teaching Hip Hop and Pom this year and loves working with the younger students! Lyndie continues to take classes in Pointe, Ballet, Hip Hop and Lyrical. Lyndie was "Sandy" in HHS musical production of Grease last year.
Charlotte is a life long dancer and dance team member. She is from Colorado where sh danced at her local studio from age 2-14. Charlotte was also on her high school dance team for four years. She is currently a member of the Hastings College Crimson Spirit dance team. Charlotte is a Junior Elementary and Special Education major with a minor in English Language learners! This is her third year teaching for T'Dance.
Anna started dancing at the age of 3 and is now a Junior at Aurora High School. Along with lessons in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, leaps and turns, and hip hop, her multiple evenings of dance each week have forced her to learn valuable life lessons in time management, making choices, and how to do homework, sleep, and eat while riding in a car!
In addition to regular classes at T’Dance, Anna has attended the Snowy Range Summer Dance Intensive, Oklahoma City University HS Dance Workshop, Manhattan Dance Project, Allegro Wolf Broadway Academy, and has taken classes at Broadway Dance Center in NYC.
This past summer, Anna attended the UNL Show Choir Camp on scholarship and was selected to perform with the Nebraska All-State Show Choir. She is a dance captain for Aurora High School’s competitive show choir, Rhapsody. Anna has taken voice lessons for 4 years from instructors Tyler Koepp and Dillon Beede.
Anna also participates in cheer/dance at Aurora High School as a member of both the FB/VB and Basketball squads. She plays the trumpet in concert, marching and jazz band and participated in AHS’s production of Shrek the Musical as a tap dancing Rat and one of the 3 Blind Mice.
She is super excited that her schedule allows her to teach a class this year!
Kay has studied dance for 20+ years. She started dancing at age 9 taking ballet, tumbling and tap, under Debbie Diggs in Red Cloud, NE. She was the lead role in “The Little Matchgirl”, which was a special Christmas performance. Kathey Shaw took over Diggs School of Dance, where Kay continued to take classes through junior high.
Kay started dancing again when Teresa opened T’Dance School of Performing Arts where she studied ballet, jazz, hip hop and modern. She was a member of the Nebraska Dance Theatre founded by Teresa Miller and Kathy Shaw. She was an assistant and taught classes for several years at T’Dance. Kay attended Tremaine and LA Dance Magic Conventions in Kansas City, also with T’Dance.
She recently finished 7 years as co-sponsor of the Adams Central Dance Team and has been a judge for area dance team tryouts. Kay is in her 14th as a Physical Education Teacher for the Adams Central Elementary Schools, and has used her dance experiences to incorporate dance into the PE program. She also coached Junior High Volleyball for 11 years. Kay grew up on a farm southwest of Ayr, NE and now lives in Hastings with her husband Byron.
Nikayla Kindig is a lifelong student at T'Dance and is returning this year as an instructor. Nikayla taught for a few years and was then gone to finish her college degree. She is back in Hastings and excited to be back pursuing her passion of dance as an instructor!
Nikayla was a dance team member all throughout high school as and Adams Central Star. She also attended the Snowy Range Summer Dance Festival and many years of National Dance Alliance summer camps. Nikayla also participated in the T'Dance NYC trip and took several classes at Broadway Dance Center. Twice she traveled with the AC Stars to compete in NDA Nationals in Orlando, Florida.
A T’Dance alumna herself, Carey started dancing at the age of 3. She has studied Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Bellydance, though her primary focus has been Modern.
In addition to T’Dance, Carey has also studied at Istuan’s Ballettschule in Germany under Istuan Racz (Saltzberger Festspiel, Stadttheater Klagenfurt) followed by a year of studying Dance at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. At Hollins she was able to participate in the creation and performance of several new works from both graduate students and renowned choreographers. She has had the privilege to work extensively with several highly reputed artists in the field, including Amanda Miller (Pretty Ugly Dance Company, Frankfurt Ballett), as well as The Dance COLEctive of Chicago with whom she completed an internship. During her time as a student at T’Dance, she also attended the Snowy Range Dance Festival.
Carey’s passions include travel, art, languages and people! The last few years have seen her moving between Germany, Venezuela, and Virginia. She is currently in her senior year of study at Hastings College with a major in Spanish.
Makenzie started dance at the age of 5 in Columbus, NE. She attended Barb’s School of Dance and Desiree’s Dancers through her senior year and was trained in dance styles including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, and clogging.
She was on the CHS Diamond Dancers all 4 years of high school, and was lead choreographer her junior and senior year where she was trained in pom, hip hop, and kickline. Her summers during high school were spent going to Just for Kix and UDA dance camps. During college in Columbus, she directed the community Just for Kix Dance program for two years teaching girls aged 3-16 in areas of pom and kickline.
Makenzie attended the Mary Lanning School of Radiologic Technology and graduated in July 2013. She now works for the hospital as a Clinical Instructor for the School of Radiologic Technology. Makenzie is also a member of the Hastings Teammates program. She is excited to join the T’Dance family and work for and with some amazing dancers!
Claire grew up dancing at T'Dance! She has taught dance before in her hometown of Minden and is currently the cheer sponsor at Minden High School. Claire will be teaching the clogging classes this year, and is excited to be back at T'Dance
Emmy has danced since she was 5 years old. Her dancing career began in at T'Dance. After moving to Lincoln, Emmy spent a two years at Club Kicks waiting to find the perfect dance studio. That dance studio was Motions Dance Academy owned by Melissa Prettyman. While at Motions, she studied pointe, ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop. She also was an assistant for ballet, tap, and jazz classes while at Motions. Emmy was a cheerleader at Lincoln East for 4 years and a captain for one of those year. This is where she developed her knowledge and love for pom dance. Emmy attended Hastings College from 2013-2017 where she was a member of the Crimson Spirit Dance Team. She held the title of captain for her last two years on the team. This gave her many opportunities to choreograph and teach teammates. While on the dance team at Hastings College, Emmy and her team went to Nationals and placed 9th. Throughout college, Emmy judged many high school dance team tryouts as well as held private lessons for dancers who were hoping to make their high school team!Emmy is currently a 3rd grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary School in Hastings, NE. This is her second year of teaching. Last year she taught special education for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders also at Lincoln Elementary.
I started dancing when I was 3 years old at a studio in Fremont, Ohio. I attended classes T'Dance School of Performing Arts for 9 years, until graduating high school. I took classes in the areas of ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, hip hop, modern, belly dance and clogging.In high school, I danced for the Hastings High School Tigerettes and was captain my senior year. In college, I danced on the Tiger Debs dance team for Fort Hays State University. I was fortunate enough to serve as captain my senior year.I taught at the Jackie Creamer's Dance Studio for 4 years during college and graduate school. I worked with dancers in the areas of ballet, jazz, hip hop and lyrical, between the ages of 2 and 17. I taught recreational classes as well as competition classes. During my time at Jackie's, I received regional awards for choreography.I currently work as a speech-language pathologist for Hastings Public Schools, serving students K-5th grade at Alcott Elementary. I'm also the assistant coach for the Tigerette dance team.
Kathryn is from Grand Island, Nebraska and is currently a student at Hastings College majoring in Elementary Education. Kathryn is a life long dancer and was a member of the Lady Crusader Dance Team at Grand Island Central Catholic for 4 years, and was a co-captian her senior year. While a part of the dance team they earned 3 State Jazz titles, 1 runner-up and 2 runner-up titles in Hip Hop. Kathryn participated in Just For Kix dance for many years and has helped with dance clinics for younger students. Kathryn was Harvest of Harmony Queen for her school her senior year and is currently a member of the Hastings College Crimson Spirit Dance Team. She is excited to be teaching this year!
Emily Struss is a life long dancer at T'Dance and has been a student of Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop and Lyrical. She has been assisting at T'Dance for the last few years and is excited to be teaching classes this year! She will be teaching Hip Hop and Pom and will also be working in the Dancewear store. Emily is a 4 year member of the Hastings High Tigerette Dance Team and is a co-captain this year. She is also involved with the HHS Show Choir.
Emma Miller, studied dance from the age of 3 at T’Dance School of Performing Arts. She has attended Manhattan Dance Project, Dance Olympus, Snowy Range Summer Dance Festival at the University of Wyoming and Broadway Bound Dancer Workshop at Oklahoma City University. Emma has been an instructor at T’Dance for several years and is also currently on staff with National Dance Alliance. Emma traveled to Nationals with her high school dance team, the Adams Central Stars, in 2010 and 2013. She has also spent time taking many classes at Broadway Dance Center in New York City. She was awarded the Nebraska Young Artists Award, by the University of Nebraska in 2012. Emma was a member of the Danger Dolls dance team for the IFL Danger Football team in 2012.
Emma is currently a Dance Management major at Oklahoma City University, where she is a member of the American Spirit Dance Company and has performed in Home For The Holidays, One Night Only, Applause, and OnBroadway. She is also a member of the OCU Pep Dancers. Emma’s current instructors are: Ballet – Jo Rowan, Veronica Wilcox, Kay Sandel, Jessica Fay, Tap – Brian Marcum, Pat Oplotnik, Kari Shaw, Diana Brooks, Tiffany Warford, Jazz – Tiffany van der Merwe, Brian Marcum, Alana Martin, Kelli Stevens, Kari Shaw.
The summer of 2016, Emma trained in the Professional Semester at Broadway Dance Center, where she trained with Stacie Webster, Ian Eastwood, Matt Steffanina, Jamie Salman, Jim Cooney, Sheila Barker, Jared Jenkins, Eric Jenkins, Bev Brown, Mark Albrecht, Aaron Tolson, Yvonne-Marie Sain, Shirlene Amber Quigley, Ray Hesselink, Carlos Neto and many more. She performed in the Broadway Dance Center Professional Semester Showcase at the Alvin Ailey Citibank Theatre in NYC.
Emma choreographed Strike A Pose and Crazy Right Now for the 2015 Elite Competition Team.
Emma is a graduate of Oklahoma City University Dance management program - 2017. She danced professionally for Larrwell productions in Dallas during the 2017 Mary Kay Seminar and is currently traveling the world as a professional dancer for Norwegian Cruise Line. She traveled the world on the "Star" ship and is currently on the "Pride of America" cruising the Hawaiian islands.
Jozie LaViolette comes to us from Omaha, Nebraska where she studied dance (Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Jazz, Tap & Hip Hop) at Mary Lorraine’s Dance Center. As a teenager she was a part of her studios elite competition team, and her high school’s state ranked Pom Squad. During those years Jozie was awarded several top group/solo placements, choreography & costume awards, Dancer of the Year nominations, national invitations, and instruction from incredible educators.
Jozie furthered her education at Hastings College where she studied Web Communication Design and Social Media Marketing. While in college Jozie was the Captain of her dance team, the Crimson Spirit and taught all styles of dance at a local studio, T’Dance School of Performing Arts. She also found herself teaching technique master classes and choreographing for several competitive studios and high schools that all ranked regionally and were selected for choreography awards.
Jozie began her professional dance career her Junior year in college when she was selected as a member of the Nebraska Nitro Elite Dance & Cheer team, and as a Danger Doll for the Grand Island, Danger IFL team. Upon graduation Jozie moved to Denver, Colorado to begin her career in Digital Media and to pursue her dreams of growing her dance resume. Recently, Jozie joined the MLB’s, Colorado Rockies as a Jeep Rally Crew Member – The teams first “cheer” style squad! She is currently in her second season as a member of The Wild Bunch for the NLL’s, Colorado Mammoth! Aside from dance teams, Jozie has appeared in the 2014 Pepsi Hyped for Halftime Super Bowl campaign, a 2013 Taco Bell commercial, and was a 2014 Top 30 finalist for the House of AKD sports model search.
Jozie choreographed Medicine and Picture Perfect for the 2015 Elite Competition Team. She is also a 4th year member and captain of the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders!
